2010 Infiniti G37 Sedan Receives Minor Styling Upgrades

In a special pre-show event that took place in Beverly Hills, Infiniti launched the subtly updated 2010 G37 sedan which will go on sale in the U.S. next January. For 2010, Infiniti's best-selling model has received a mild exterior makeover with tweaked front and rear fascias accompanied by a refreshed interior and upgraded technology features.

The most prevalent changes have been made to the front end which gets new headlights and grille along with a reshaped bumper. In addition, the front fog lights have been moved from their previous location in the headlight cluster to the lower fascia on the corners of the front bumper.

Two new color options (Smoky Quartz and Graphite Shadow ), a revised rear bumper with a different exhaust treatment and the new 17-inch alloy wheels with P225/55R17 tires on the G37, G37 Journey and G37x AWD models, pretty much complete the exterior changes.

Inside, along with the upgrades to the navigation system and the optional packages, the 2010MY G37 features a new white color scheme for the gauges and LCD instrument display, new trims and a revised lower center console design for the models equipped with an automatic transmission.

For 2010, the Infiniti G37 will continue to be offered with a 328-horsepower 3.7-liter V6 engine coupled to a 7-speed automatic transmission, or in the case of the G37 Sport, a 6-speed manual gearbox.

2009 Acura TL Official Details & 24 High-Res Photos

While we’d like to see the fourth-generation TL in person to make our final assessment, we think that Acura’s designers overdid it in their attempt to create a vehicle that stands out from the crowd. As a result, the new TL looks rather clunky and over detailed in some aspects. As for the interior, our initial thoughts are that it looks kind of “plasticy” and a bit too Honda-like for a mid-size luxury sedan.

In terms of dimensions, the new TL is larger than the outgoing model as it rides on a 1.4-inch longer wheelbase and is longer (+6.0 inches) and wider (+1.8 inches) thus promising to offer improved interior space. Available in the U.S. from this fall, the 2009 Acura TL will be offered with a choice of two powertrains.

The entry-level 2009 TL is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 producing 280 HP and 254 lb-ft of torque that sends power to the front wheels through Acura's Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters. According to Acura, the FWD TL has projected EPA fuel economy ratings of 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

The top-notch TL SH-AWD is equipped with Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system while power comes from a beefier 3.7-liter V6 engine delivering 305 HP and 275 lb-ft of torque. Projected EPA fuel economy ratings for the TL SH-AWD are 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. Like the basic FWD version, the TL SH-AWD gets a Sequential SportShift 5-speed automatic featuring steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters.

LA Auto Show: Porsche Boxster Spyde New Lightweight Model Unveiled Ahead

Porsche has released the first photos of a new, lightweight version of it mid-engined Boxster roadster called the Spyder that is scheduled to make its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in December. Following a similar formula to the iconic 550 Spyder of the 1950s, the new model replaces the standard Boxster's retractable soft-top and all its associated mechanics with a simple and lightweight rag top that hooks up onto the windshield and the rear end of the car providing basic protection from the elements of nature.

The Spyder also gets a new 'double bubble' rear deck while other cosmetic tweaks include the re-trimmed front bumper and side air-vents, the new alloy wheel design and the larger fixed rear spoiler.

Almost everything about the third model in the Boxster family after the standard and 'S' versions is about shedding weight. Gone are the regular Boxster's daytime running lights and fog lamps while the interior has been stripped out of any unnecessary features such as the air condition and audio system (though they are available optionally). The cabin also gets a pair of race-like door pulls and lightweight carbon-fiber seats.

Together, these weigh saving measures help shed 80 kg (176 lbs) off the Boxster S with the Spyder model tipping the scales at 1,275 kg (2,810 lbs).

The new model also gets a tuned version of Porsche's 3.4-litre flat six boxer engine with direct fuel injection that produces 320 horsepower, 10HP more than in the Boxster S.

Equipped with the Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) twin-clutch transmission and the Sports Chrono Package, the Spyder can go from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 4.8 seconds (Boxster S: 5.0 seconds) and reach a top speed of 166 mph (267 km/h) with the roof removed.

The Boxster Spyder is scheduled for a worldwide launch in February 2010 with the base price in the Euro countries set at €53,100 (US $78,400). In Germany, if you add taxes and national specifications, the Spyder will retail for €63,404 or about 12 percent more than a Boxster S.

2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe Photo News

This here is the production version of Cadillac's 2008 CT Coupe Concept that will be revealed at next month's Los Angeles Auto Show. The first Cadillac coupe in almost two decades features a classic 2+2 seating layout and is slated to arrive in U.S. showrooms in the spring of 2010. The most obvious rivals for the 2011 CTS Coupe are the BMW 3-Series Coupe along with the new Audi A5 Coupe, Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and the Infiniti G37 Coupe.

The coupe has the same wheelbase as the CTS, but an overall height that is approximately two inches (51 mm) lower and an overall length that is two inches (51 mm) shorter.

According to Cadillac, even though the Coupe is based on the CTS sedan, it shares only the instrument panel, console, headlamps, front fenders and grille with four-door model.

At launch, the 2011 CTS Coupe will be offered with GM's direct injected 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 304 horsepower and offers an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27 mpg on the highway.

The V6 engine is coupled to a standard 6-speed manual gearbox with an automatic transmission with Driver Shift Control and available steering wheel mounted shift buttons offered as an option. It will also come with rear- or all-wheel drive.

According to a previous announcement from GM, the CTS Coupe V6 will be joined in the near future by a range topping "V" model boasting the same 556-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8 found on the CTS-V Sedan.

The CTS Coupe's hardware includes an independent short/long arm (SLA) front suspension system, with hydraulic control arm front bushings, and a multi-link rear suspension. Also included are four-wheel disc performance brakes, a limited-slip differential and GM's electronic chassis control system (StabiliTrak).

There are no pictures of the interior but Cadillac says that features include hand-sewn accents covering the door, center storage console and instrument panel trim as well as several techno goodies such as the 40GB hard drive, pop-up navigation system, rear camera and Bluetooth connectivity.

Photos 2011 Audi A8 Luxury Sedan In Detail

Moving on to the interior, let's just say that, sans the A4-esque instrument panel, owners of the current generation A8 will feel right at home. In fact, we bet that most will have a hard time telling the two interiors apart. Nonetheless, the Germans do claim that the cabin has been further improved in terms of quality of workmanship as well as materials.

Leaving the evolutionary styling of the exterior and interior aside, the new 2011 A8 continues to make use of a lightweight aluminum body. The normal wheelbase A8 (a LWB will follow at a later date) measures 5,137 mm (16.85 ft) in length, 1,949 mm (6.39 ft) in width and 1,460 mm (4.79 ft) in height, with a 2,992 mm (9.82 ft) wheelbase.

The company has not yet released official figures for the A8, however, Audi says that the new model weighs about the same as the current A8, even though it's bigger (3 in. longer, 2 in. wider) and has more standard equipment.

Besides the low weight, the aluminum space frame (ASF) body of the A8 has other advantages with the company announcing that the static torsional stiffness has increased by 25 percent compared with the predecessor.

When the 2011 A8 arrives in European showrooms in early 2010, it will be available with a choice of two engines, a 4.2 FSI and a 4.2 TDI.

The 4.2-liter V8 petrol makes 372HP and 445 Nm (328 lb-ft) torque at 3,500 rpm, accelerating the A8 from zero to 100 km/h (62mph) in 5.7 seconds, and on to an electronically governed top speed of 250km/h (155mph).

Audi says that in the EU cycle, the petrol version returns a combined 9.5 lt/100 km (24.76 US mpg, which represents a reduction of 1.4 liters or 13 percent compared over its predecessor, despite a power increase of 22-horsepower.

The 4.2-liter V8 TDI diesel produces 350HP and a whopping 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque already available at speeds between 1,750 and 2,750 rpm. The V8 diesel accelerates the A8 from rest to 100 km/h (62mph) in just 5.5 seconds.

Even though this new engine delivers 24HP and 150Nm of torque more than before, average consumption has dropped by 1.8 liters/100 km or 19 percent to 7.6 liters/100 km (31 US mpg), corresponding to CO2 emissions of 199 g/km (320 g/mile).

The two V8 engines will be joined by two six-cylinder diesels shortly after the market launch. The first 3.0-liter V6 TDI diesel makes 250HP and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) propelling the A8 from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in 6.6 seconds while consuming on average 6.6 liters of fuel per 100 km (36 US mpg).

The second variant of the 3.0-liter V6 TDI produces 204HP and will be offered only as a front wheel drive model. It is said to return an average fuel consumption of 6.0 lt/100 km (39 US mpg), corresponding to CO2 emissions of 159 g/km (256 g/mile).

All engine versions will be equipped with a new, electronically controlled 8-speed tiptronic system and quattro permanent all-wheel drive (sans the basic 3.0 TDI model). As an option, Audi will offer a dynamic sport differential, which will be standard on the 4.2 TDI quattro.

In the U.S., the 2011 A8 will go on sale in late 2010 and will be offered at launch exclusively with the 372HP 4.2-liter V8 FSI petrol.

Techno gizmos include a revised MMI multimedia interface, seats with optional ventilation and massage functions, a new Audi pre sense safety system for avoiding accidents, adaptive air-suspension, a next generation nav system, night vision assistant with pedestrian marking and an adaptive cruise control with stop & go feature.
