Have Auto Repair Needs? Keep These Tips In Mind!

In addition to basic tire changing equipment, keep a plastic tote filled with DIY auto repair supplies in the trunk of your car in case of emergencies. Fill it with at least a quart each of motor oil, transmission fluid, steering fluid, and brake fluid and a gallon of water. Add a can of penetrating oil spray, a roll of duct tape, twine, bungee cords and basic tools so that you can manage minor repairs on the road.

Look over the manual that came with your car. This will help you when it comes time for you to visit your mechanic if a major problem occurs. You may figure out, that when the manual is read that your issue is something you may be able to fix on your own.

Check your tire pressure regularly. Tires with a low pressure are a very dangerous liability. Check the pressure in your tires at least once a month or anytime you notice a tire seems to be losing air. Invest in new quality tires if you often have to adjust the pressure in your tires.

Windshield Wipers

If you find your windshield wipers aren't taking away all the water from your windshield as it rain, you may want to supplant the blades. This is a quick fix anybody can do. Check the blades and buy new ones from an auto supply store. Take out the old ones and snap the brand new ones into place.

If you buy specified items at car parts suppliers, they will have them installed without cost. Do not forget this when you go and purchase them. As for instance, a brand new set of windshield wipers is roughly $ 5. A car parts store often have them installed for you at no cost, while an auto repair shop charges you about $50.
