Crtics of tinting make a good point on the subject of eye contact between drivers. Window tinting does restrict this and it should be borne in mind.

Across the world there are different laws and regulations for window tinting and for your own safety they should always be observed and adhered too. Law enforcement agencies tend to come down on drivers with illegal tints like a ton of bricks. In the UK for example, a vehicle can only have tinted windows if it was registered after the first of April 1985. Plus it is a requirement that 70 to 75 per cent of natural light must be able to pass through the windscreen. Darker tints are permitted on side windows.

In the US each state has its own laws for window tinting and the amount of minimum light required. It is worth bearing in mind that flouting the law could get you into trouble and ultimately cost you money on insurance claims and premiums. For example, if you have darker tints than you should have and are involved in an accident it is pretty certain that you will carry the blame and it will hit you in your pocket as far as insurance cover is concerned. Always carefully consider all your options for window tinting and do not think that the cheapest deal is necessarily the best one. Saving money is a good thing but not at the expense of getting sub standard tints that may well not be legal.
