Ferrari 430 Scuderia GT3 Classic STP Livery Adorns

The classic STP livery, made famous by Richard Petty and NASCAR, will now appear on something a bit more eloquent. Esseng, England, racing team Chad Racing will be running a Ferrari 430 Scuderia GT3 in the famous blue-and-red during the British GT Championship.

Chad Racing ran the 430 Scuderia during last year's British GT calendar, with Chris Hyman behind the wheel. Hyman returns for the '10 season, along with 18-year-old sensation Daniel Brown. In his rookie race last year, Brown managed to capture the checkered flag, also taking the crown one race later. Autosport called him the "driver find of the seasaon."

Brown finished 10th overall last year in points, while 46-year-old Chris Hyman ended in a tie for 17th. "It's great to have such an iconic brand as STP with us, and we are confident that the Daniel Brown/Chris Hyman line-up in our new 430 Scuderia will mount a serious challenge at the front of the GT3 field this year," said team manager Piers Masarati.

The 14 races of the 2010 British GT Championship season will take place over eight dates, beginning in April at Oulton Park.

Ford’s Detroit Electric Classic and Henry Ford Museum

Here we have it, the first photo of a production Detroit Electric EV on this blog. Only thing is this was made in 1914. This is the Detroit Electric Brougham and it was owned by Henry Ford’s wife.

Henry Ford actually bought this Detroit Electric for his wife because during that time, a Detroit Electric was pretty much considered a woman’s car. It was easier to start, quieter and cleaner than its combustion engine counterparts, putting it in favor of the urban women of that time. If you check out the photo gallery of the Detroit Electric car after the jump, you can even spot a little flower vase in the interior, so the Volkswagen New Beetle wasn’t the first with the idea!

I’m here in Michigan for the 2010 North American International Auto Show, also commonly referred to as the Detroit Auto Show. The show only starts on Monday so we had the opportunity to check out some of the nearby attractions such as the Henry Ford Museum near where we were staying in Dearborn, the hometown of Henry Ford and the HQ of the Ford Motor Company.

And as for the modern revived Detroit Electric – not sure when we’re going to see a production car from them. Look after the jump for more shots I snapped at the museum.

Toyota 2000GT Replica Based on Nissan 240Z with GT-R Engine

At last weekend's Tokyo Salon 2009, Mr. Makoto Kobayash and his company Road Star Garage from Aichi, Japan, launched their latest Toyota 2000GT replica, this time based on the 1970's Datsun Fairlady Z S30 - known in most markets as the 240Z and later as 260Z and 280Z. Whereas the original 1965 Toyota 2000GT used a 2.0-liter, naturally aspirated, straight six producing around 150HP, Road Star Garage fitted the replica with a Nissan Skyline GT-R derived and NISMO prepped, twin-turbocharged RB26 N1 six-cylinder unit.

The Japanese firm hasn't published any performance or output figures, but understandably, this replica holds a mighty punch under its hood. As some might remember, Road Star Garage also produces a Toyota 2000GT convertible based on the underpinnings of the Mazda MX-5 / Miata

Mercedes-Benz Brings and 2009 Mercedes-Benz Actros

As part of this year's celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows, the German automaker has brought together three generations of trucks that have been used to transfer the firm's racing cars over the years. These include the 1934 Lo 2750, an awesome replica of the once fastest racing car transporter in the world, the so-called 'Blue Wonder' from 1955 that was powered by the original Gullwing's direct-injection engine, and a modern day Actros Truck.

Needless to say, the one that stands out like a shining star is the official replica of the 'Blue Wonder'. Built at the request of racing manager Alfred Neubauer in the mid 1950s, this one-of-a-kind transporter served Mercedes-Benz for more than a decade.

The 6.75-metre-long and two-meters-wide hauler used a lengthened tubular frame from the Mercedes-Benz 300 S luxury coupe of the era.

Power was provided by a three-liter inline-six with direct-injection that came straight from the legendary 300 SL Gullwing sports car of 1955, while various body components such as the doors, wings and some of the interior appointments were sourced from the Mercedes-Benz 180 standard saloon. It was then billed as the 'fastest racing car transporter in the world'.

After Mercedes-Benz withdrew from motor sports at the end of 1955, the 'Blue Wonder' initially served as an exhibition vehicle in the USA, followed by ten years of service for Mercedes-Benz test drives. Unfortunately, Rudolf Uhlenhaut, who managed the motor sports department during the racing car carriers' "active" period, had the one-off model scrapped in 1967.

However, decades later, Mercedes-Benz rebuilt this stunning racing car hauler based on archive photographs.

As for the other two trucks featured here, the Mercedes-Benz Lo 2750 is a completely restored model from 1936 equipped with a four-cylinder petrol engine while the 4-meter tall and 16.5-metre long 2009 Actros Truck that's powered by a V8 turbo diesel currently serves as a carrier for Mercedes-Benz's Formula 1 and DTM racing cars.
